Transform leftover croissants into a sumptuous, custardy treat baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 4 large croissants, torn into pieces
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or diced fruits (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the croissants by tearing them into bite-sized pieces and placing them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Make the custard by whisking together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  4. Combine the custard mixture with the croissants and fold gently to coat.
  5. Let the mixture soak for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use stale croissants for best results; don’t overbeat the custard ingredients.
