A comforting casserole that combines the flavors of a classic burger with the ease of a bake, featuring savory ground beef, creamy cheese, and a flaky biscuit topping.

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 box Cheddar Bay biscuit mix (10.5 oz)
  • ¾ cup cold milk
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, black pepper, and paprika until smooth.
  5. Pour the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Combine the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix with the cold milk in a separate bowl, stirring until just combined.
  8. Spoon the biscuit dough evenly over the cheese layer.
  9. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, until the biscuit topping is golden brown.
  10. Brush with melted butter and garlic powder over the biscuit topping.
  11. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use good-quality cheddar cheese for the best flavor. Letting the casserole rest helps the layers set for easier portioning.
